According to Ayurveda, the human body is supported by four pillars called Dosha, Agni, Dhatu, and Mala | | | | Dosha | Are the functional principles of the body which defines the body constitution. According to the different functions of the body it is classified into three: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each individual has got all the three Dosha, but they vary from person to person in expression of the qualities
 | Vata: Represent the element Wind and Ether in the nature. It is the cause for all the actions in the body both internal and external. One can see the expression of vata in the form of usually tall and lean physique, fluctuation in thought & mind (lack of stability) disturbed sleep, fluctuating appetite, dry skin and hair, etc |  | Pitta: Represent the element fire. It is the internal fire which governs the metabolism, and bodily factor which gives the final form to a matter. Expression of pitta can be seen as, well built physical body, normal skin and hair with reddish hue. Very strong appetite and digestion, quite stable in thought and action, good sleep, etc |  | Kapha: Represent the element earth & water. Kapha is responsible for lubrication and compactness in the body. Its qualities are expressed as suppleness, lubrication in the joint, elasticity, firm texture of the tissue. Individual are usually very fat and huge or gigantic personality. Kapha dominant individuals are slow in action & thought, but very steady, with calm & pleasant mind, poor digestion & appetite, oily skin and hair. etc |
